Creating a Cloud Server

updated 06/05/2024

When creating a Cloud Server, you must associate a VPC Network with an active DHCP Subnet.

Follow these steps to create a Cloud Server:
  • sign in to the New Cloud Management Platform;
  • in the left vertical menu, under SERVICES select Compute;
  • in the Cloud Server area click on Go to Cloud Servers;
  • in the Cloud Server section click on Create new Cloud Server.
The Create Cloud Server procedure requires the following details:
  • 1. Cloud Server details
    • Cloud Server name: the name that will identify the Cloud Server (naming requirements).
    • Tags (optional): you can associate tags with each created Cloud Server to facilitate searching (tagging requirements).
    • Destination project: you must assign the Cloud Server to a project or the system will assign it to the default project.
    • Click on Continue.
  • 2. Cloud Server location
    • Indicate the region / zone where you want the Cloud Server.
      The choice of region and zone cannot be changed later.
    • Click on Continue.
  • 3. Source
    • Select a template from the available options.
    • Click on Continue.
  • 4. Size
    • Select a size for the template.
    • Click on Continue.
  • 5. Networking
  • This step requires you to link the Cloud Server you are creating to a VPC Network:
    • If you do not have a VPC Network, the section will be disabled and a VPC Network will be created automatically;
    • If you have existing VPC Networks, the default VPC Network will be selected with automatic configuration active, but you can choose a different one.
      • Virtual Private Cloud - Select VPC (choose from one of the VPC Networks available)
      • Subnet - Select subnet (choose from one of the Subnets available with DHCP enabled)
      • Security Group - Security Group name (choose from one of the security groups avilable)
  • You can also link an Elastic IP to the Cloud Server:
    • if you don't have an Elastic IP: you can buy one selecting the option Buy new IP address;
    • if you have one or more Elastic IPs available: from those suggested, you can choose which one to link by selecting Select IP address.

      If you do not link an IP address, you will only be able to access the Cloud Server from the recovery console.
  • 6. Server management account
    • Select an existing SSH key
      • If you have chosen a Linux template, you can select an existing SSH key to connect to the Cloud Server, or create a new SSH key; this is optional and the SSH key can also be set later.
    • Set password
      • The password can be set from the Cloud Server details page.
  • 7. Billing frequency
    • Choose the service billing type.
    • Click on Continue.

Click on the Confirm button on the right side of the sticky bar to finish creating the Cloud Server. The Cloud Server just created will appear in the Cloud Server section and the status will show as Creating.

Creating a Cloud Server takes a few minutes, after which the status will change from Creating to Active.
