A snapshot is only taken on the Cloud Server's main disk (HD0).
You can only create a snapshot if the Cloud Server status is On or Off.
You can create up to a maximum of 10 snapshots per Cloud Server.
A snapshot can be created in two ways:
Creating a snapshot from the Snapshots section
To create a snapshot from the Snapshots section, follow these steps:
- sign in to the New Cloud Management Platform;
- in the left vertical menu, under SERVICES select Compute;
- in the Snapshots area click on Go to Snapshots;
- in the Snapshots section, click on Create snapshot;
- the Create Snapshot procedure requires the following details:
- 1. Create Snapshot
- You must specify from which Cloud Server you want to take a snapshot. Only Cloud Servers which are on or off will be displayed.
- Click on Continue.
- 2. Snapshot details
- Snapshot name: is the name that will be used to identify the snapshot (naming requirements).
- Tags (optional): tags can be assigned to each snapshot created to facilitate searching through the list of snapshots created (tagging requirements).
- Destination project: a snapshot must be allocated to a project, if none is selected, the system will assign the snapshot to the default project.
- Click on Continue.
- 3. Billing frequency
- Choose the billing frequency for the service.
- Click on Continue.
- click on the Confirm button on the right of the sticky bar to finish creating the snapshot.
Creating a snapshot from the Cloud Server details page
To create a snapshot from the Cloud Server details page, follow the steps below:
- sign in to the New Cloud Management Platform;
- in the left vertical menu, under YOUR SERVICES select Manage > Computing;
- in the Cloud Servers area, click on Go to Cloud Servers;
- in the Cloud Servers section, find the Cloud Server you want to create a snapshot of and click on the three dots ... at the end of the line;
- select Manage from the list of options;
- this will take you to the Cloud Server details page;
- click on the Cloud Server Actions button and select Create snapshot;
- the Create Snapshot procedure requires the following details:
- 1. Create Snapshot
