6.15 Why can't you reduce the size of a disk after it has been created? Cloud Server Pro service guide

As already anticipated the Cloud Server system does not let you reduce the capacity of the hard disks once they have been allocated. This is because you cannot reduce the size of a hard disk without incurring the loss of all data present in it.
However, there is way to "reduce" the size of a disk:
  • create a second disk
  • copy all the contents of the first disk to the second
  • remove the first disk
In consideration of the hourly cost of resources this operation is not expensive for the customer from a financial point of view.

The operations described are examples: the improper use or use without due care and skill, can cause the partial and total loss of data, and in some cases may jeopardize the correct operation of the virtual server. Using this guide without the appropriate skills is not recommended. Aruba S.p.A. does not accept any responsibility for any problems or damage caused by using these guides
