1.3 Managing a load balancer

To manage a load balancer, proceed as follows:

Changing the status of a load balancer

Changing the status of an ENABLED load balancer

  • Click on the DISABLE LOAD BALANCER button in the LOAD BALANCER STATUS area;
  • this opens the Disable Load balancer window in which you need to confirm the action by pressing OK, DISABLE.

  • Click on the ENABLE LOAD BALANCER button in the LOAD BALANCER STATUS area;
  • this opens the Enable Load balancer window in which you need to confirm the action by pressing OK, CONFIRM.

Connecting and disconnecting one or more Cloud Servers/Dedicated Servers

Connecting a Cloud Server / Dedicated Server

  • Scroll down to the Balanced Servers section on the load balancer details page;
  • click on the CONNECT SERVER button;
  • the Connect Server to balance window will open containing a list of Cloud Servers (located in the same data center) which are not yet connected to a load balancer;
  • find the Cloud Server you want to connect and tick the checkbox (you can select more than one, if required);
  • to connect one or more Dedicated Servers (hosted in the same data center) add their IP addresses in the Dedicated Server IP address field;
  • click on CONNECT to confirm.

Disconnecting a Cloud Server / Dedicated Server

You cannot disconnect all Servers from the load balancer. At least one server must always be connected.
  • Scroll down to the Balanced Servers section on the load balancer details page;
  • in the Server list find the one you want to disconnect from the load balancer;
  • click on the DISCONNECT button;
  • the Disconnect machine window will open;

Creating or deleting rules

Adding a rule

  • Scroll down to the Rules section on the load balancer details page;
  • click on CREATE RULE;
  • the Create new load balancer rule window will open;
  • enter the four rule parameters and click on CREATE RULE to confirm.

Deleting a rule

  • Scroll down to the Rules section on the load balancer details page;
  • click on DELETE;

    You cannot delete all the rules: a load balancer must always have at least one associated rule; if you only have one rule and you want to delete it, you must first create a new one.

Analyzing statistics

  • Scroll down to the Load history section of the load balancer details page;
  • by selecting one of the available options in the Period list, you can adjust the display period up to the last 30 days. By default, it is set to the last 24 hours;
  • if you want a more detailed analysis divided by balanced Cloud Server/Dedicated Server and to see the rules applied, click on GO TO STATISTICS.

    The load balancers can support up to 20,000 sessions per second and approximately 1 Gb/s of traffic. If you need higher performance, you can contact our team of experts for a customized solution.

Editing the name and notification settings

  • Click on Edit (Name and Notifications) under the load balancer name;
  • on the page displayed, you will find two areas:
    • Load balancer name
    • Notifications
  • once you have made the required changes, click on SAVE CHANGES at the bottom of the page.
