Windows Server 2008 R2 offers a Server platform that gives IT professionals greater control over the Server and network infrastructure; it also offers an enterprise level platform for the efficient management of company workloads, guaranteeing optimized procedures, a high level of availability, enhanced productivity for users working in branches or on mobile workstations, better virtualization functionality and energy use management.
Administrative access is provided via remote desktop, with the Administrator login and the password chosen during setup. The database can be accessed remotely with the username "sa" and the password chosen during setup.
Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection is pre-installed on the system.
The Windows firewall is active and blocks incoming traffic to the server on the following ports:
135 TCP UDP
137 TCP UDP
138 TCP UDP
139 TCP UDP
Ports 1433 and 1434 are open to enable database access.
