EOL (End Of Life)
This template is no longer available for creating new Cloud Servers.
Features
Based on Debian, renowned for its strength as a server system, the Server edition of Ubuntu inherits fantastic performance and predictable evolution. The first version of Ubuntu to have a separate server .was 5.10, released in October 2005.
With version 10.04 LTS, "Ubuntu Server Edition" adds support for lots of typical configurations, introducing the simplicity that made Ubuntu famous as a desktop environment as well as in the server environment. The new "Ubuntu Server Edition" provides a fantastic platform on which to develop servers with the main Internet services: mail, web, DNS, file servers and databases.
One key aspect, inherited from Debian, is security. After installation, the Ubuntu server does not have any ports open to the outside, and only contains the software needed for a secure server.
Access
Administrative access is provided via SSH, with the root username and the password chosen during setup.
Setup
There are no particular customization options on this template, as this is a minimal Ubuntu Server installation that leaves space for any type of use.
