What Business Continuity is
Business Continuity is your company's ability to continue operating even in critical situations, such as technical failures, fires, earthquakes, floods or power outages. In practice, it means ensuring that essential services remain operational even when an unexpected event occurs that could disrupt or slow down business activities.
What Business Continuity Planning is
A Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is a document that contains all the information and actions to be implemented in the event of an incident that could disrupt normal business operations. The more detailed the plan, the easier it will be to minimize disruption and resume operations quickly.
The BCP includes:
- the critical business processes that need to be protected;
- the potential risks that could cause a service interruption;
- the solutions for restoring business continuity.
Activating Business Continuity
To implement Business Continuity, you need to prepare a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) tailored to your organization. This plan includes:
- identifying emergency scenarios that could disrupt business operations;
- defining responsibilities and procedures for dealing with each type of interruption;
- tools and step-by-step instructions for restoring systems to a minimum acceptable level of functionality.
If you use Aruba Cloud services, the production environment is already protected by a corporate BCP. It is tested every year to ensure continuity even in the event of an emergency. The plan provides guidance for managing risks by applying a specific information security methodology. It includes the actions to be taken before, during and after an interruption to keep critical services operational.
