1.2 Create a Private Cloud

 For more technical or sales information please contact our team of experts.
To create a Private Cloud proceed as follows:
  • sign in the Control Panel using your credentials,
  • click on the "CLOUD Private" tab,

  • select the data center in which you wish to create a Private Cloud,
  • you will then reach the "Private Cloud" section,

  • click on the "Create New Private Cloud" button.

To create a Private Cloud simply follow these four steps:
Step 1 - select the computational resources (vCPU, RAM and Storage);
Step 2 - select the network resources (shared public network and dedicated public network;
Step 3 - select the additional services (BaaS and DRaaS);
Step 4 - enter the service data (service name, login details, technical contact details);

Step 1 - computational resources

This section shows a list of the computational resources (vCPU, RAM, HD) you can assign to the Private Cloud service. These resources will then be those found in the VMware vDirector web console. The computational resources can be changed also after the activation of the Private Cloud by following the edit process. It is possible to downgrade the resources only if they are not being used.
The ratio between the vCPU and RAM resource needs to be a minimum of 1 to 1,5, therefore if you increase the vCPU you will also need to increase the RAM.

vCPU RAM vCPU/RAM ratio ≥ 1:1,5
16 32 1:2
16 64 1:4
32 32 1:1
64 32 2:1
It is possible to add up to 6 Storage configurations (with the "Add Storage" button).

Storage Type GB min GB max
Gold High performance, low latency mixed SSD and SAS storage, with redundancy via hardware RAID. Ideal for all production servers which require good performance (Web Server, Mail Server, Application Server). 840 840.000
Gold Plus High performance, low latency mixed SSD and SAS storage, with redundancy via hardware RAID and replicated on twin Storage. Ideal for all production servers which require good performance (Web Server, Mail Server, Application Server). 420 420.000
Platinum High performance, low latency SSD storage, with redundancy via hardware RAID. Ideal for all production servers which require extreme workloads and IOPS (extremely high performance Database Server). 110 110.000
Platinum Plus High performance, low latency SSD storage, with redundancy via hardware RAID and replicated on twin Storage. Ideal for all production servers which require extreme workloads and IOPS (extremely high performance Database Server). 60 60.000
Silver Medium performance and latency SAS + NL SAS storage, with redundancy via hardware RAID. Ideal for all production servers which require good performance (Backup Server and test Server). 1.260 1.260.000
Silver Plus High performance, low latency SAS + NL SAS storage, with redundancy via hardware RAID and replicated on twin Storage. Ideal for all production servers which require good performance (Backup Server and test Server). 630 630.000

Step 2 - network resources

Here you will find the network resources (Virtual LanFirewall  Protection and Public IPs) which can be assigned to the Private Cloud service to create an internal network and connection to the Internet.
When creating a Private Cloud the system will assign 5 Virtual Lans.
The Firewall protection is set to Edge Gateway - Standard, you can change the service choosing from the provided solutions.
Firewall Type cost included
Gateway Edge - Standard Basic Firewall with the possibility to customize firewalling rules and NAT.
Gateway Edge - Advanced Basic Firewall with the possibility to customize firewalling rules, NAT, VPN and load balancing.
Gateway Edge - Full Basic Firewall with the possibility to customize firewalling rules, NAT, VPN and high performance load balancing.
The system also automatically provides 4 Public IPs included in the monthly cost with the possibility to purchase more (Shared Public Network); it’s also possible to change the service by purchasing the solution with IPs on Dedicated Public Network.

The network computational resources can be changed also after the activation of the Private Cloud by following the edit process. It is possible to downgrade the resources only if they are not being used.

Step 3 - additional services

In this section it is possible to indicate the number of Servers on which you wish to enable the additional services.
  • Cloud Bare Metal Backup: enables you to create backup copies of your Private Cloud virtual machine based on image technology and works closely with the virtualization hypervisor (VMware).
  • Cloud DRaaS: enables data replication based on hypervisors to  guarantee Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR).
It is possible to change the additional services after the activation of the  Private Cloud through the edit process.

Step 4 - service details

Service name

You need to provide a:
Name: this will be the name of your Private Cloud (within the same network it is not possible to have Private Clouds with the same name) - mandatory
The name can be changed also after the activation of the Private Cloud by following the edit process.

Access details

You need to provide a:
Username / Password: the username and password provided here will be those you will need to access the service through VMware vCloud Director web console - mandatory
The password can be changed also after the activation of the Private Cloud by following the edit process.

Technical contact

You need to provide a:
Phone / Email: the contact details you enter will be used by our technicians to contact you (we recommend that you enter the details of a technical contact) - mandatory
The phone number and the email address can be changed also after the activation of the Private Cloud by following the edit process.

Summary

After completing the process a page with a summary of your resources will open. Click "Confirm".

Confirm the new Private Cloud in the window that appears.

Now you will need to wait for the Private Cloud to be created. At this stage the status of the service will be "Creation in  progress".

Once the Private Cloud has been created the status will change to "Active" and you can start managing it straight away through the VMware vCloud Director web console.

Requests for new Private Clouds will be processed within 24 hours during office hours (8:30/18:30) from Monday to Friday. As soon as the request has been processed a notification will be displayed in the Control Panel.
