05 Creating a Cloud Server from an image

What to know before creating a Cloud Server from an image

To create a Cloud Server from an image, you must have an image available in the Image repository:
  • the image must have the status Active;
  • you can use both bootable and non-bootable images; whether the Cloud Server can boot depends on the image characteristics and the volume configuration;
  • the Cloud Server must be created in the same region where the image is available;
  • the minimum Cloud Server disk size depends on the image operating system: 20 GB for Linux and 40 GB for Windows.

How to create a Cloud Server from an image

  • Log in to Aruba CMP;
  • from the menu, select Public Cloud > Compute > Cloud Server;
  • go to the Virtual Data Center - Single Cloud Server page and select Create Cloud Server;
  • follow the Cloud Server creation procedure and, in section 3. Source:
    • select the Custom Images tab;
    • find and select the image from the Image repository that you want to use to create the Cloud Server;
    • check that the disk size meets the minimum requirements for the image operating system;
