1.1 The SSH key

What is an SSH key

A public SSH key is one component of a cryptographic key pair used by the SSH (Secure Shell) protocol.
It essentially provides access authorization for the SSH network protocol, which enables authenticated and encrypted remote communications between devices over an unsecured network. It is essential for secure file transfers, network management and remote access to operating systems, thanks to authentication based on public and private key cryptography.

How many SSH keys you can upload

You can upload up to 50 SSH keys, regardless of their type.

What you can associate an SSH key with

You can associate an SSH key only with Linux Cloud Servers.

Types of SSH keys you can upload

algorithm bits
RSA [1] 1024, 2048, 3072 and 4096
DSA [2] 1024
ECDSA [3] 256, 384 and 521
1. Rivest-Shamir-Adleman.
2. Digital Signature Algorithm.
3. Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm.

SSH key status

An SSH key uploaded to Aruba CMP can have one of the following statuses:
  • Active
  • Failed - The SSH key was not created successfully. If the key has this status, you can only delete it.
