What are monitoring alerts

A monitoring alert is a message that the system creates if the conditions you have set for a specific service of yours are not met for longer than the duration you have chosen. You can create monitoring alerts for the following services:
  • Kubernetes Clusters
  • VMware Virtual Private Cloud
  • VMware Cloud Pro
  • Cloud Servers

Creating a monitoring alert

A monitoring alert can be created by accessing any section on the SERVICES > Monitoring page.
If you access the Monitoring alerts section you will be able to create alerts by choosing the type, if you access the other sections you will only be able to create alerts for that particular type of service.

To create a monitoring alert, proceed as follows:
  • sign in to the Aruba Cloud Management Platform;
  • in the left vertical menu, under SERVICES select Monitoring;
  • in the Monitoring alerts area, select Go to service;
  • in the Monitoring alerts section, select + Create new volume on the top right;
  • the Create new alert procedure requires the following details:
    • 1. Details
      • Alert name: the name that will identify the alert (naming requirements).
      • Tags (optional): you can associate tags with each alert created to facilitate searching (tagging requirements).
      • Note (optional): you can add notes to the details of the alert being created.
      • Click on Continue.
    • 2. Service
      • Service type: select the type of service for which you are creating the alert. All your current active services will be listed.
      • Service name: select a specific service from those active for the type you have previously chosen.
      • Select Continue.
    • 3. Configuration
      • You must indicate the conditions for which you want the system to send you the alert, the conditions vary depending on the type of service chosen.
        • Duration: indicates how long the set conditions must persist before the alert is sent.
      • Under Active service you can decide whether to activate the alert immediately (leaving the selection active) or to create the alert and enable it later.
      • Select Continue.
    • 4. Channel
      • Select Continue.
    • Select the Confirm button on the right-hand side of the sticky bar to finish creating the alert.
The alert you have just created will be displayed in the list in the Monitoring Alerts section; creating an alert is immediate.

Disabling/Enabling a monitoring alert

The status of an alert is set during creation; if it is not changed, it is active.
To change the status of an alert, proceed as follows:
  • From the Monitoring alerts page:

Editing a monitoring alert

  • select Manage;
  • in the Actions section on the right of the details page select the Edit button;

Deleting a monitoring alert

Deleting a monitoring alert is independent of its status (enabled or disabled) and does not delete notifications created and sent, which will continue to be shown in the Received Notifications section.

To delete a monitoring alert, proceed as follows:
  • From the Monitoring Alerts page:
    • locate the alert you wish to delete and click on the three dots ... at the end of the line;

    • the Delete Alerts level will open, asking you to confirm the operation with the Delete Alerts button.

Consult received notifications of a monitoring alert

If the conditions you set (to monitor a specific service) are not met, the system will create and notify you of a corresponding message.
The notifications that the system will send you are listed:
  • in the Received Communications area of the Monitoring Alerts section; all communications will be present regardless of the type of service;
  • in the Alerts tab of the various services in the Monitoring section; only communications relating to the specific type of service you are monitoring will be listed.
