What a VPN Route is
A VPN Route is a rule that correctly routes traffic between your on-premises (or third-party) network and the Aruba Cloud VPC Network via an active VPN Tunnel. It defines the traffic source, destination, and the path to use (i.e., the configured VPN Tunnel). Without at least one active VPN Route, traffic will not be routed through the VPN Tunnel, making the connection non-functional even if the tunnel appears active.
Requirements
You must have
created a VPN Tunnel.
Check that the security group's inbound and outbound rules allow communication between the VPC Network and the public IP address you entered during VPN Tunnel creation under
Peer Client Public IP.
How many VPN Routes can I create for a VPN Tunnel
The maximum number of VPN Routes you can create is ten.
Creating a VPN Route
- Go to the VPN Tunnel details page;
- scroll down and select the VPN Route tab;
- click + Create new VPN Route;
- rovide the following in the creation process:

- 1. Details
- assign a name to the VPN Route (follow the naming rules);
- you can assign one or more tags to the VPN Route (follow the tagging rules);
- click Continue;
- 2. Configuration
- the VPC Network is already selected and cannot be changed;
- select an existing subnet from the Select subnet list;
- in Private Customer Subnet enter your private subnet by filling in the Network / Host;
- click Continue;
- 3. Billing frequency
- Choose the service billing type.;
- click Continue;
- click Confirm on the right side of the sticky bar to complete the VPN Route configuration.
Editing a VPN Route
- Go to the VPN Tunnel details page;
- scroll down and select the VPN Route tab;
- find the VPN Route you want to edit and click the three dots at the end of its row;
- select Edit VPN Route from the list;
- in the 1. Details section, you can only edit:
- click Confirm on the right side of the sticky bar to complete the edit.
Deleting a VPN Route
- Go to the VPN Tunnel details page;
- scroll down and select the VPN Route tab;
- find the VPN Route you want to delete and click the three dots at the end of its row;
- select Delete VPN Route from the list;
- confirm the operation in the Delete VPN Route window.
