What you cannot do when changing resources
The Cloud VPS service does not allow you to downgrade the resources configured when the Cloud VPS was created.
You cannot choose to increase only one resource; you must select one of the available sizes.
You cannot change the original
hypervisor, including between OpenStack and OpenStack Starter.
What a Cloud VPS resource upgrade is
Each Cloud VPS is created by selecting a size: a fixed package of resources that includes vCPU, RAM and HD.
An upgrade increases the resources by switching to a larger size.
Why increase the resources of a Cloud VPS
The need to increase the resources of your Cloud VPS may depend on several factors. The
statistics available for the Cloud VPS are a useful tool for determining whether you need to perform an upgrade.
The statistics allow you to check vCPU and RAM usage, disk status and bandwidth consumption (inbound and outbound) for your Cloud VPS, helping you understand how to optimize its performance.
How to upgrade the resources of a Cloud VPS
- Go to the details page of the Cloud VPS whose resources you want to increase:
- select Resources below the Cloud VPS name;
- in the Server Features section, select the new size;
- disk space equal to the difference between the old size and the new size will be added: for example, if your current size has a 40 GB hard disk and you select a size with a 120 GB hard disk, 80 GB of disk space will be added (120 GB - 40 GB);
to use this space, you need to extend the disk volume by following the procedure described in How to extend the disk volume using the added space;
- select EDIT SERVER;
- in the Confirm Cloud Server resource changes window, you can choose whether to restart the Cloud VPS after the upgrade by selecting Start Cloud Server after changes.;
- select CONFIRM to complete the upgrade.
What to do if you have reached the Cloud VPS resource (size) limit
If your Cloud VPS already has the maximum size available and you can no longer upgrade its resources, you can contact the
Aruba Cloud technical staff for dedicated assistance and to find the solution that best suits your needs.
