1.1 Hosted Private Cloud service

Hosted Private Cloud service

Hosted Private Cloud is a dedicated infrastructure service based on a cluster of enterprise servers hosted in Aruba Global Cloud Data Centers. You can configure an infrastructure consisting of a variable number of nodes, from a minimum of 4 up to a maximum of 32, choosing the server package that best suits your needs. Each node is configured uniformly and is part of a single cluster.
Each configuration always includes: During the order process, you can customize CPU, RAM, disks and bandwidth, as well as choose whether to install a preconfigured VMware solution or proceed in BYOL (Bring Your Own License) mode.

Hosted Private Cloud service configurations

During the purchase process, you can select the server package and configure the cluster nodes according to your needs. Each configuration is automatically replicated across all nodes in the cluster.

HPC-Infrastructure

HPC-Infrastructure is the infrastructure layer managed by Aruba on which the Hosted Private Cloud service is provided. This component integrates the selected nodes into a single cluster and includes the resources and basic services required for the infrastructure to operate correctly.
In the order summary, HPC-Infrastructure includes:
  • the HPC-Infrastructure service;
  • the public network selected during configuration;
  • the connectivity (Bandwidth) selected during the order process.
Bandwidth can be configured as 1 Gb/s, 2 Gb/s or 10 Gb/s, with unlimited traffic, depending on the option selected during the order process. HPC-Infrastructure is always included in every Hosted Private Cloud configuration and is not optional.

Virtual Firewall NSX

Virtual Firewall NSX is included in every Hosted Private Cloud configuration and is based on VMware NSX technology in NAT mode. The firewall acts as the control point between the private infrastructure and the external network and allows you to:
  • define access rules;
  • control incoming and outgoing traffic;
  • manage the publication of services to external networks;
  • segment and isolate internal environments.
In the order summary, Virtual Firewall NSX is always included as a component and is not optional.

Operating system, network resources and connectivity

Operating system

During configuration, you can choose one of the following options:
  • VMware VCF + vDefend;
  • VMware VCF + vDefend + Data Services Manager;
  • VMware VCF + vDefend + Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA and SQL Support (AI-110.1 only);
  • VMware VCF + vDefend + Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA and SQL Support + Data Services Manager (AI-110.1 only);
  • no operating system (BYOL - Bring Your Own License mode), with installation carried out by the customer.

Network resources

During configuration, you can select the public network associated with the infrastructure, choosing between /28, /27 or /26 subnets, depending on the number of public IP addresses required.

Each node in the cluster is equipped with a remote management system (KVM), which provides direct access to the server for administration and troubleshooting activities. Depending on the selected server model, the remote management system can be:
  • iDRAC9 (for Dell PowerEdge servers);
  • XClarity Controller 2 (XCC) (for Lenovo servers).
The KVM system allows you to access the server's remote console, monitor its hardware status and perform administration operations such as powering on, shutting down, restarting and low-level maintenance.

Connectivity

During the order process, you can select connectivity bandwidth with unlimited traffic, choosing between 1 Gb/s, 2 Gb/s (2x1 Gb/s Port-Channel) or 10 Gb/s.

ACN qualification

The Hosted Private Cloud service can be made ACN qualified by selecting the relevant option during configuration. ACN qualification requires compliance with specific regulatory and technical requirements defined by the Agenzia per la Cybersicurezza Nazionale (Italian National Cybersecurity Agency).
