What is Bare Metal Recovery
Bare Metal is a complete backup of an entire disk, including partition and boot data. It protects the machine on which the operating system is installed and allows it to be recovered even in the event of a serious failure or system corruption.
Which Cloud Servers support Bare Metal Recovery
You can perform Bare Metal Recovery on both VMware Cloud Servers and Hyper-V Cloud Servers.
This feature is not available on Cloud Servers (VDC), OpenStack Cloud Servers or Cloud VPS, because these environments do not support the use of .iso files.
What is included in Bare Metal Recovery
Bare Metal includes:
- operating system;
- installed applications;
- configuration settings;
- drivers.
What types of Bare Metal Recovery are available
Commvault supports three Bare Metal Recovery methods:
- recovery on the same machine;
- recovery on a new machine;
- recovery by cloning to a new machine.
