What is Object Storage?
Object Storage is a storage service that allows you to store and manage large amounts of unstructured data, such as documents, images, videos, backup files and other content. Data is stored as objects and can be managed through a web interface, via FTP protocol or using S3-compatible clients.
Object Storage price plans
The selected price plan can be changed later when
managing the Storage account.
Pay-per-use
The resources used are charged based on the hourly consumption of storage space and outbound traffic (see the
arubacloud.com website).
Packages
You can use the resources (storage space and outbound traffic) included in the selected package, which has a monthly cost (see the
arubacloud.com website).
If you select a package price plan, you must specify how the system should behave if the available resources are exceeded:
- Allow use of further pay-per-use resources - resources used in excess of those included in the package are charged on a pay-per-use basis;
If you are using the largest available package and select Allow use of further pay-per-use resources, when the resources included in the package are exceeded, the system automatically switches to the pay-per-use price plan, subject to the credit available in the Cloud account. The pay-per-use plan then becomes the new price plan associated with the Object Storage account.
- Upgrade to higher plan - the system automatically switches to the higher package, subject to the credit available in the Cloud account.
How Object Storage is organised
To use Object Storage, you must
create a Storage account. Within the Storage account, data is organised as follows:
- Storage account - identifies the Object Storage space associated with the access credentials and a specific region;
- bucket - a logical container used to organise objects;
- objects - files and data stored within buckets.
Before uploading an object, you must therefore create at least one bucket in the Storage account.
Object Storage features and limits
Object Storage allows you to store files of any type and extension. For each Storage account:
- the available storage space is unlimited;
- the maximum size of a single file is 1 TB (1,000 GB);
- you can create up to 100 buckets.
Some connection clients, particularly free versions, may have lower limits on the size of files that can be uploaded.
Bucket features and rules
A bucket is a logical container used to store and organise objects within a Storage account. The bucket name forms part of the URL used to
access uploaded files via the web.
The following rules apply to buckets:
- the name must be unique within the same region;
- you cannot use bucket as the name;
- buckets cannot be nested and can only be created in the root of the Object Storage space;
The bucket name must comply with the following rules:

Where data is stored
When you create a Storage account, you must select the
region where you want to store your data. The Storage account and its data are associated with the selected region. The region cannot be changed after the Storage account has been created.
