07 Downloading an image from the Image repository

What to know before downloading an image

The Image repository allows you to export and download stored images to your device.
  • the image must have the status Active;
  • to download an image, you must first export it, regardless of its origin;
  • before exporting, the Export image command is enabled, while Download image is disabled;
  • once the export is complete, the Export image command is disabled and Download image is enabled;
  • images are downloaded in QCOW2 (.qcow2) format.

How to export an image from the Image repository

  • Log in to Aruba CMP;
  • from the menu, select Public Cloud > Compute;
  • in the Image repository section, select Go to Image Repository;
  • find the image you want to export and select the three-dot icon on the right of its row;
  • select Export image;
  • the image status changes to Export in progress;
  • once the operation is complete, the image returns to the Active status and the Download image command becomes available.
You can also export the image from its detail page by selecting Image actions > Export.

How to download an exported image

  • Go to the Image repository page in Aruba CMP;
  • find the previously exported image and select the three-dot icon on the right of its row;
  • select Download image;
  • your browser starts downloading the file in QCOW2 format.
You can also start the download from the image detail page by selecting Image actions > Download.

How exported file availability works

Once the export is complete, the file prepared for download remains available for 24 hours, during which it can be downloaded multiple times:
  • after 24 hours, you must export the image again to make the download available;
  • the temporary storage space occupied by the file prepared for download is not counted towards the Image repository storage space.
