SPF record
An SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record allows you to specify which servers are authorised to send email on behalf of your domain using a specific syntax.
The SPF record configuration requires:
Host,
Text and
TTL.
Host
The host can be left blank if it corresponds to the main domain, or it can represent a subdomain, such as:
host.domainname.ext
This field is optional.
Text
The SPF string consists of several elements:
- v=spf1: indicates the version of the SPF record being used;
- domain: represents the domain authorised to send email (e.g. if the address is [email protected], the domain will be domainname.ext);
- the all rules: specify how to handle messages from unauthorised servers. You can use one of the following symbols before all:
- -all: rejects email from unauthorised servers;
- ~all: marks email from unauthorised servers as suspicious;
- ?all: applies no restrictions.
A complete example of a string is:
v=spf1 include:domainname.ext -all
This field is required.
