What is Bare Metal Restore
Bare Metal Restore consists of a complete copy of the entire disk, including the data required to boot the system and the partition configuration. It protects the machine on which the operating system is installed and allows you to restore the entire system, including its services, even in the event of a serious failure or system corruption.
Which Cloud Servers support Bare Metal Restore
You can perform Bare Metal Restore only on Cloud Servers running Windows (VMware Cloud Servers and Hyper-V Cloud Servers). The Bare Metal Restore service is not supported on Linux operating systems.
Bare Metal Restore is not available on Cloud Servers (VDC), OpenStack Cloud Servers or Cloud VPS, because these systems do not support the use of .iso files (disk images required for recovery), as they do not allow virtual disk management.
What Bare Metal Restore includes
The restore includes all the following system components:
- operating system;
- installed applications;
- configuration settings;
- drivers.
