1.2 Using the service as an end user

Prerequisites

You must have access credentials of the following type:
  • userMS and passwordMS
    These are the credentials used to access Microsoft 365;
You must have at least one backup job set up: if you do not have any backup job, you will be able to access but will not see anything.

Use of the service for a user of the Microsoft 365 organization

Access to Veeam Portal Restore

  • Log in to the portal using your credentials:
    • userMS for Microsoft 365 service;
    • you will be redirected to a Microsoft page where you need to enter your passwordMS (Microsoft 365 service password);
      • choose whether to stay connected for the next login;
    • after confirming the credentials, you will be taken back to the Veeam Restore Portal;
  • within the Veeam Restore Portal, you can explore two sections through the respective tabs at the top left:
    • Explore - allows you to view available backups;
    • Restore Sessions - lets you check for ongoing restore operations.

How to view your backups

  • Click on the Explore tab at the top left;
  • select the option Restore Point: > Select Restore Point... in the left menu;
  • a level will open with a calendar on the left to choose a day and available backups;
  • select a backup and click Apply;
  • in the left column, all services (protected by backups) will be displayed;
  • you can browse services to find the content you want to restore.

To perform a restore

  • Select one or more items by clicking on the respective checkbox and then click on the Restore option in the horizontal menu;
    • if you want to restore items that are in different locations, you can select them and add them to a list (to be executed later) by using the Add to Restore List option;
  • begin the Exchange Restore configuration procedure with steps displayed in the left column:
    • Items
      • lists the items for restore;
      • click on Next;
    • Restore mode
      • indicates whether to restore;
      • to the original location - Restore to the original location;
      • to a new location - Restore to a new location;
        • You can specify additional options via Advanced options...;
      • click on Next;
    • Reason
      • decide whether to add a description of the operation;
      • click on Next;
    • Summary
      • displays a summary of the settings chosen in the previous steps;
      • click on Finish;
  • the restore for the selected contents will begin;
  • you will be redirected to the Restore Sessions section where you can monitor the restore process and the final outcome.
