05 Managing a Cloud VPS OpenStack

Accessing the Cloud VPS OpenStack details page

• sign in to Aruba CMP;
• from the menu, select BARE METAL & VPS > VPS;
• in the VPS area, select Go to service;
• in the VPS section, find the Cloud VPS OpenStack and select the three dots at the end of the corresponding row;
• select Manage from the menu;
• from the Cloud VPS OpenStack details page, you can:
  • view the IP address;
  • switch off and start the Cloud VPS OpenStack;
  • access the Cloud VPS OpenStack using the recovery console;
  • change the name and project of the Cloud VPS OpenStack;
  • create and manage snapshots;
  • initialise the Cloud VPS OpenStack;
  • upgrade the resources;
  • monitor the Cloud VPS OpenStack;
  • view the activity log;
  • add a note;
  • delete the Cloud VPS OpenStack.

Switching off the Cloud VPS OpenStack

• access the Cloud VPS OpenStack details page;
• go to Actions and select Switch server off;
• choose one of the following shutdown methods:
  • Server VPS switched off using the operating system functionality - the Cloud VPS OpenStack is switched off using the operating system functionality. The time this takes depends on the operating system and the procedures, tasks and software active on the Cloud VPS OpenStack. This is the recommended way to switch off the Cloud VPS OpenStack;
  • Server VPS forced shut down - the Cloud VPS OpenStack is forcibly shut down. This has an immediate effect and does not allow the operating system to complete the proper shutdown procedure. Only use this method if the Cloud VPS OpenStack cannot be switched off using any other method.
• confirm by selecting Switch server off.

Resetting the Cloud VPS OpenStack

• access the Cloud VPS OpenStack details page;
• go to Actions and select Reset;
   
  Forced shutdown of the Server VPS and switching on: the Cloud VPS OpenStack is forcibly shut down and then switched on again. This has an immediate effect and does not allow the operating system to complete the proper shutdown procedure. Only use this operation if the Cloud VPS OpenStack cannot be switched off using any other method.
• confirm by selecting Reset server.

Starting the Cloud VPS OpenStack

• access the Cloud VPS OpenStack details page;
• go to Actions and select Start;
• in the confirmation window, select Switch server on.

Changing the name and project of the Cloud VPS OpenStack

• access the Cloud VPS OpenStack details page;
• go to Actions and select Edit server name;
• in the Edit VPS server name window, you can change:
  • the server name;
     
    Only the name of the Cloud VPS OpenStack displayed in Aruba CMP is changed. To change the host name of the Cloud VPS OpenStack, you need to access the operating system and change it manually.
  • the project;
• select Edit server name to confirm the changes.

Monitoring the Cloud VPS OpenStack

• access the Cloud VPS OpenStack details page;
• in the lower section, select the Monitoring tab;
• under Select interval, choose the period you want to view from those available;
• you can monitor:
  • CPU - CPU usage as a percentage;
  • Memory - RAM usage as a percentage;
  • Network - incoming and outgoing traffic;
  • Disk - disk space usage;
• from the three-dot menu on each chart, you can:
  • view the chart in Full screen;
  • choose the chart size from Small, Medium or Large;
  • export the data using Export data;
  • download the chart using Download chart.

Viewing the Cloud VPS OpenStack activity log

• access the Cloud VPS OpenStack details page;
• in the lower section, select the Activity log tab;
• you can view operations relating to the Cloud VPS OpenStack for a maximum period of 24 months.

Adding a note to the Cloud VPS OpenStack

• access the Cloud VPS OpenStack details page;
• in the lower section, select the Note tab;
• enter information, procedures, notes or comments relating to the Cloud VPS OpenStack in the text field;
   
  Do not enter sensitive information, such as your operating system login details.
• select Save Note.
