1.3 Checklist for installations and updates on Cloud Servers

The best practices listed here apply to all dedicated servers and Cloud Servers offered by Aruba Cloud and refer exclusively to operations performed by the user, such as manual installations or updates, in accordance with the shared responsibility model.

This checklist helps reduce risks when performing manual installations or updates on the Cloud Server:
  • create a snapshot so that you can restore the previous state if any issues occur during the operation;
  • use the Cloud Backup service to protect the contents of the Cloud Server, providing broader, scheduled protection over time;
  • test the installation or update on a test VM (if available) to identify any errors or incompatibilities before performing the operation on the main machine;
  • make sure you have all administrative permissions, as the operation must be performed by an authorized user;
  • check that there is enough free disk space, as installations and updates may require additional temporary space;
  • minimize the risk of external access during the operation by considering temporarily disabling publicly exposed services;
  • if the Cloud Server generates Internet traffic, schedule the operation during low-impact periods to minimize disruption to users or connected services.
