FTP Service
FTP Service
What the FTP service is
Aruba Cloud provides an FTP service for each Cloud account: a remote storage space.
The FTP service allows you to export and import virtual disks and .iso images to and from the Aruba Cloud infrastructure using any FTP client.
When activated, the storage space is 50 GB and is free of charge, but you can increase its size using the editing procedure.
You can only upload the following formats to the FTP storage space:
- .iso (only bootable images)
- .vmdk
- .vhd
All other file types will not be uploaded.
Activating the FTP service
- Log in to the Control Panel;
- select the data center where you want to activate the FTP service;
- from the menu, select VMWARE ON ARUBA CLOUD > Compute essential > FTP Service;
- in the FTP Service Management section, the service status is shown as INACTIVE;
- click ACTIVATE FTP MANAGEMENT;
- the status is now ACTIVE and you can use the FTP service with the following credentials:
- account
- password
- host
- path
- port
Editing FTP storage space
- Go to the FTP service details page;
- select the Edit tab;
- in the Total available space section, you can increase the storage space from the initial 50 GB up to 600 GB in 10 GB increments;
- the service is charged on an hourly basis, only for storage exceeding the initial free 50 GB;
- storage can be increased in 10 GB increments up to a maximum of 600 GB;
- you can reduce the storage space only if the space is free, and you cannot reduce it below 50 GB.
Accessing FTP storage space
To access the FTP storage space, you need:
Files stored in the FTP storage space (.iso, .vmdk and .vhd) cannot be deleted from the Control Panel: you must use an FTP client.
What happens when credit runs out
If the credit available on your Cloud account runs out, the FTP service is reduced to the initial free 50 GB. If the occupied space exceeds 50 GB, the FTP service is blocked until you delete enough data to bring the occupied space below 50 GB.
If you do not top up your credit within 17 days, the content of the FTP storage space is deleted. After topping up your credit, you can purchase additional FTP storage space beyond the free 50 GB again.
