SSH keys
SSH (Secure Shell) is a network protocol that allows you to establish a secure connection to a remote computer, such as a Cloud Server or Cloud VPS, using a command-line interface. Communications via SSH are encrypted.
The procedure for adding an SSH key when creating a machine applies to:
- OpenStack Cloud Server;
- VMware Cloud Server;
- Cloud VPS.
It is available if you select a Linux template.
Adding an SSH key when creating Linux Cloud Servers and Cloud VPSs
When creating a Cloud Server or Cloud VPS, if you have selected a Linux template, you can add an SSH key in step
5. Server Management Account.
Proceed as follows:
- go to ADD SSH KEY;
- you can add the SSH key in one of the following ways:
- in the Upload SSH key via file area, go to SELECT and choose the file containing the SSH key;
- alternatively, enter the SSH key in the relevant text field;
- if you want to use SSH key authentication without entering the password for the root account, select Passwordless SSH access;
- continue creating the Cloud Server or Cloud VPS.
The SSH key is associated with the machine during creation and can be used to connect to it via SSH.
