    • Public Cloud:
      • from the menu, select PUBLIC CLOUD > Network;
      • in the Virtual Switch section, select Go to the Control Panel;
    • VMware on Aruba Cloud:
      • from the menu, select VMWARE ON ARUBA CLOUD > Network;

  • in the New Virtual Switch window, enter the name in the Name V. Switch field;
  • select OK, CREATE to confirm.
The Virtual Switch name can contain letters, numbers and hyphens (-). Spaces and other special characters are not allowed.

Accessing the Virtual Switch details page

  • Log in to Aruba CMP;
  • you can access Virtual Switch management from:
    • Public Cloud:
      • from the menu, select PUBLIC CLOUD > Network;
      • in the Virtual Switch section, select Go to the Control Panel;
    • VMware on Aruba Cloud:
      • from the menu, select VMWARE ON ARUBA CLOUD > Network;
      • in the Virtual Switch section, select Go to the Control Panel;
  • select the Data Center where the Virtual Switch is located;
  • in the Virtual Switch section, find the Virtual Switch you want to manage and select DETAILS.
On the details page, you can view:
  • the Virtual Switch status;
  • the connected Cloud Servers;
  • the connected Unified Storage resources;
  • the Virtual Switch costs.
You can also rename or delete the Virtual Switch from the same page.

Connecting a Cloud Server to the Virtual Switch

  • Access the management page of the Cloud Server you want to connect to the Virtual Switch;
  • go to the Network Adapters section;
  • find the network interface you want to use and select CONNECT VIRTUAL SWITCH;
  • in the Connect Virtual Switch window:
    • select the Virtual Switch you want to connect the Cloud Server to;
    • in the IP field, enter the private IP address to assign to the network interface (for example, 192.168.0.1);
    • in the Netmask field, enter the private network netmask (for example, 255.255.255.0);
  • select OK to confirm;
  • once connected, the name of the Virtual Switch associated with the network interface is displayed in the Network Adapters section.
To connect additional Cloud Servers to the same Virtual Switch, repeat the procedure, assigning each network interface a unique private IP address belonging to the same network. For example, if you assigned 192.168.0.1 with netmask 255.255.255.0 to the first Cloud Server, you can assign 192.168.0.2 with the same netmask to the second Cloud Server.

Changing the IP address and netmask

After connecting the network interface to the Virtual Switch, you cannot change the configured IP address and netmask.
To use different values, you must disconnect the network interface from the Virtual Switch and reconnect it, specifying the new IP address and netmask.

Renaming the Virtual Switch

  • Access the Virtual Switch details page;
  • select EDIT NAME;
  • in the Edit Name window, change the name in the Switch Name field;
  • select OK, MAKE CHANGE to confirm.

Disconnecting a Cloud Server from the Virtual Switch

  • Access the Cloud Server management page;
  • in the Network Adapters section, find the network interface connected to the Virtual Switch and select DISCONNECT;
  • in the Disconnect Virtual Switch window, select OK, SIGN OUT.

Deleting the Virtual Switch

You can delete a Virtual Switch only if no Cloud Servers or Unified Storage resources are connected to it. Before deleting it, disconnect all resources associated with the Virtual Switch.
  • Access the Virtual Switch details page;
  • in the VIRTUAL SWITCH ACTIONS section, select DELETE;
  • in the Delete Virtual Switch window, copy the text DELETE VIRTUAL SWITCH into the specified field;
  • select OK, DELETE to confirm.
