1.2 Creating a Container Registry

Prerequisite

To create a Container Registry, you must have a Block Storage (volume) that has never been used.
The Security Group must have an inbound rule for port 443.

Creating a Container Registry

  • Log in to the Aruba Cloud Management Platform;
  • from the menu, select PUBLIC CLOUD > Container;
  • in the Container Registry area, select Go to Container Registry;
  • in the Container Registry section, select Create Container Registry;
  • the creation procedure requires the following information:
    • 1. Information
      • enter a name for the Container Registry (follow the naming rules);
      • you can associate one or more tags with the Container Registry (follow the tagging rules);
      • assign the Container Registry to a project. If you do not make a selection, the system will assign the Container Registry to the default project;
      • select Continue;
    • 2. Location
      • choose the region where you want to deploy the Container Registry (this selection cannot be changed after creation);
      • select Continue;
    • 3. Configuration
      • choose one of the available sizes (this selection cannot be changed after creation);
      • choose a volume from those already created in the same region and assigned to the same project as the Container Registry;
      • select Continue;
    • 4. Networking
      • associate the Container Registry with a VPC Network:
        • if you have not yet configured a VPC Network, the section will be disabled and the system will automatically create one;
        • if you have one or more VPC Networks, the Automatic configuration enabled option will be enabled. In this case, the system automatically selects the default VPC Network. You can disable the option to select a different VPC Network by choosing:
          • one of the available VPC Networks;
          • one of the available subnets;
          • one of the available security groups;
      • if you have an available Elastic IP, you can associate it with the Container Registry to make it accessible from the internet;
        • after creation, you can choose to associate, disassociate, or change the Elastic IP;
      • select Continue;
    • 5. Account
      • enter the username to use for your Container Registry;
      • select Continue;
    • 6. Billing frequency
      • choose the billing frequency for the service;
      • select Continue;
    • select Confirm on the right-hand side of the sticky bar to complete the Container Registry configuration.

What to do after creating a Container Registry

After creating the Container Registry, you must set the password for the account you selected during creation. You will need the account and password to access Harbor.

What to do if Container Registry creation fails

If Container Registry creation fails, we recommend trying again using a newly created volume.
