Before you start
The operations described may affect the system and data, potentially causing malfunctions or data loss:
- always back up your data or the entire server externally before performing any operation;
- if available, create a snapshot of the server from the management panel before making changes to the system;
- for unmanaged services, you are responsible for managing the operating system and software;
- if in doubt, consult a trusted system administrator or check the latest official documentation for the operating system or software in use.
The procedure described in this guide applies to:
- OpenStack Cloud Server;
- VMware Cloud Server;
- Cloud VPS Hyper-V.
Upgrading and downgrading resources
For Cloud Servers with monthly (30-day) or annual billing:
- resource upgrades take effect immediately and the cost is calculated as described in the Upgrade: calculating cost allocation guide;
- resource downgrades take effect at the end of the prepaid period (monthly or annual) and the cost is calculated based on the new resources.
The available upgrade and downgrade operations depend on the type of Cloud Server:

- add one or more secondary disks (HD 2, HD 3, etc.).
Downgrading VMware Cloud Server or Cloud VPS Hyper-V resources
- modify the individual vCPU and RAM resources;
- remove any secondary disks (HD 2, HD 3, etc.).
