06 Adding space to a Cloud Server disk

Before proceeding

The operations described may affect the system and data, potentially causing malfunctions or data loss:
  • always back up your data or the entire server externally before performing any operation;
  • if available, create a snapshot of the server from the management panel before making changes to the system;
  • for unmanaged services, you are responsible for managing the operating system and software;
  • if in doubt, consult a trusted system administrator or check the latest official documentation for the operating system or software in use.

Which disks can be extended

The option to increase the space of a primary or secondary disk varies depending on the hypervisor selected when creating the Cloud Server.
  • OpenStack Cloud Server: you can add space only to secondary disks.
  • VMware Cloud Server: you can add space to both the primary disk and secondary disks.
  • Cloud VPS Hyper-V: you can add space to both the primary disk and secondary disks.

How much space can be added to a disk

You can add space to a disk up to a maximum of 500 GB, in minimum increments of 10 GB.
