What happens when you edit a backup policy
Editing a backup policy may affect future backup schedules for the volumes associated with it.
The changes do not affect backups that have already been performed, but apply to subsequent backup runs after the changes are confirmed.
In particular:
- changing the schedule modifies the day and time of future backup runs;
- changing the retention settings affects how long backups created after the update are retained;
- adding or removing one or more steps changes the future Full and Incremental backup sequence.
Before editing a backup policy associated with active volumes, check the impact that the new settings may have on your data protection strategy.
