04 Uploading a personal template to another data center

Requirements

To use a personal template to create a Cloud Server in another data center:
  • you must have created at least one personal template;
  • you must have activated the FTP space in the data center where the personal template is located and in the data center where you want to create the Cloud Server.

Downloading a personal template and uploading it to another data center

The personal template is saved in the /PersonalTemplate/ directory of the FTP space associated with the data center where it was created. To use it to create a Cloud Server in another data center, proceed as follows:
  • access the FTP space of the data center where the personal template is located;
  • open the /PersonalTemplate/ directory;
  • locate and download to your device all the files that make up the personal template:
    • for a template based on VMware Cloud Server, there are two files:
      • a .vmdk file;
      • the corresponding -flat.vmdk file;
      both files are required and must be downloaded with their original names;
    • for a template based on Cloud VPS Hyper-V, there is a .vhd or .vhdx file;
  • access the FTP space of the data center where you want to create the Cloud Server;
  • upload all the files that make up the personal template directly to the root directory of the FTP space, with their original names. If uploaded to a different directory, they cannot be used to create the Cloud Server;
  • follow the instructions on how to create a Cloud Server using a personal template uploaded to the FTP space.

Effects of uploading a personal template to the FTP space

Uploading the files that make up the personal template to the FTP space of another data center does not create a new personal template. The uploaded files will therefore not be visible as a template in the Personal Templates section of the destination data center. The uploaded files can be used to create a Cloud Server with a personal template.
