02 Creating a personal template

Requirements

The VMware Cloud Server you want to create a personal template from must be powered off and have no active snapshots.
You must have activated the FTP space in the data center where the VMware Cloud Server is located.

Log in to Aruba CMP;
from the menu, select VMware on Aruba Cloud > Compute essential;
in the VMware Cloud Server area, select Go to the Control Panel;
select the data center where the VMware Cloud Server you want to create the personal template from is located;
on the Manage page, locate the server and select MANAGE at the end of the corresponding row;
make sure that the server is powered off and has no active snapshots;
scroll down to the Virtual Disks section and select CREATE TEMPLATE for the primary disk (HD 1);
start the personal template creation process.

Log in to Aruba CMP;
from the menu, select VMware on Aruba Cloud > Storage;
in the Custom templates area, select Go to the Control Panel;
select the data center where the VMware Cloud Server you want to create the personal template from is located;
on the Personal Templates page, select CREATE NEW TEMPLATE;
start the personal template creation process.

The following information is required in the Create Personal Template process:

1. Cloud Server
- select the VMware Cloud Server you want to create the personal template from;
2. Presentation
- Name - enter a name for the template;
- Descriptive text - you can enter a description of the template;
- OS type - select the operating system;
- SO Version - enter the version of the operating system used by the template;
- Architecture - select the architecture (32 bit or 64 bit);
- Licences - any licences, if present, are displayed.
3. Login details
- enter the VMware Cloud Server login details in the Username and Password fields;
- these details will be displayed when creating a VMware Cloud Server based on the personal template.
4. Resource restrictions
- you can set minimum and maximum limits for the VMware Cloud Server hardware resources (vCPU, RAM, HD1 and secondary disks);
- the resource limits set when creating the personal template cannot be changed later.
Select CREATE PERSONAL TEMPLATE to open the Create Personal Template window;
confirm the template creation by selecting CONFIRM NOW.
