15.2 Create a personal template Cloud Server Pro service guide

There are two ways to create a personal template, both from the Control Panel:

The FTP service must be activated to use this feature.
  • go to the Control Panel;
  • select "COMPUTING" from the horizontal menu;
  • select the data center in which the Cloud Server in question is housed;
  • select "Personal Templates" from the "TEMPLATES" area in the left menu;
  • this takes you to the "Personal Templates" area;
  • click on "CREATE NEW TEMPLATE";
  • this takes you to the "Create Personal Template" section where you are asked to enter the details of the template being created. This contains 4 different areas:

    From this section, you can select the Cloud Server you want to use to create the new template.

    The list will contain all Cloud Servers (housed in the data center selected at the start) which are shown as "Off" and do not have active snapshots.

    Once the Cloud Server has been selected, the data for the hard disk will be displayed.
    • Name: this is the name that the template will display in the personal templates section, when creating a new Cloud Server.
    • Description: a description of the template will appear when it is selected from the personal templates, when creating a new Cloud Server.
    • Icon: an image (128x128 pixel size in PNG, JPG or GIF format, no larger than 50KB) can be uploaded, if desired, to use as the icon for the template. If no image is uploaded, the default icon will be used.
    • OS type: description of the operating system installed on the template.
    • OS version: description of the version of the operating system installed on the template.
    • Architecture: 32 bit or 64 bit.
    The server login details must be entered in the username and password fields. These details will be displayed when creating a new Cloud Server, based on the template being created, to remind you which details to use to login.
    Limits to the Cloud Server hardware resources used (amount of vCPU, RAM, amount and size of hard disks) can be established for each personal template.

    The resource limits set when a personal template is created can no longer be altered.

Finally, click on "CREATE PERSONAL TEMPLATE".

The "Create Personal Template" window will open where you will be asked to confirm the Template creation by clicking on "OK, CREATE".

Once the Template has been created, it will appear as "ACTIVE" in the "Personal Templates" section, and its details can be viewed and edited using the "MANAGE" button.
  • go to the Control Panel;
  • select "COMPUTING" from the horizontal menu;
  • select the data center housing the Cloud Server you want to make a template of;
  • click on "MANAGE";
  • scroll down to the "Virtual Disks" section of the datasheet;
  • click on "CREATE TEMPLATE" to the right of the details of the main disk (HD 1);
